Most subwoofers come with a built-in amplifier. Stereo receivers, by contrast, power only two speakers at once. High-end receivers, not surprisingly, offer still more features, along with a cleaner, more powerful, and more sophisticated sound. Plus, many high-end receivers offer multi-room functionality, letting you power your living room, bedroom, and patio speakers all at once, and sometimes even listen to different audio sources simultaneously—a CD in the bedroom and a DVD in the living room, for instance. Receivers generally fall into one of three price points: Keep in mind that low-cost receivers often boast inflated power ratings; look for receivers with full-bandwidth power ratings 20 Hz to 20 kHz rather than single-frequency or limited-bandwidth ratings. Dolby Digital is the de facto surround sound standard, thanks to the popularity of DVDs that adopted the format early on. HDTV followed suit more recently. The format creates a rich audio soundstage that brings movie soundtracks to life with crisp dialogue, realistic-sounding special effects, and deep bass.

Early incarnations of the ICEpower all-digital amplifiers were not everyone’s cup of tea sonically, but they do offer a lot of well-controlled power for very little electricity expenditure, and are hence about green as amplifiers get. Recent versions of the module, with power claimed to be a staggering W into 8 Ohms for each channel in the LX81’s case, are staggering.

The most significant are: While it is possible to modify the sound system to achieve this compatibility, doing so requires soldering skills along with electronic components not included with aftermarket receivers.

Installation of an aftermarket stereo in the latter is more difficult because the wiring work involved is more time consuming. This kit eliminates the need for advanced wiring work or with any metal or plastic fabrication work required to install a modern aftermarket receiver in a C4 and what remains is easily accomplished by do-it-yourselfers.

How to hook up an equalizer to an av reciever

I was very optimistic getting this reciver because I had replaced a Pionneer Elite which had given me more then 10 years of faithful service. I just needed an upgrade due to the HDMI and Audio Decoding capabilities which my old recevier lacked, don’t get me wrong, but my Elite receiver was the best I haver had. Anyway, getting everything hooked up was very easy. Same process to set up the speakers although I used my own Omni-directional MIC-instead of the one supplied.

Turned it on and voila, sound! As I was going through all the things I had connected to it I did noticed that my Blu-ray playback would cut out and come back on several times during the movie-like the receiver lost it’s signal to it.

Now, the two networks are connected in series to give us an 8ohm output.

Are you sure that you want to delete this answer? Yes Sorry, something has gone wrong. Answers Rating Newest Oldest The EQ is 2 channel and requires an amp the an EQ loop stereo out to stereo in between the pre and power sections of the amp circuits. Your AV receiver is 5. Finally, your deals with digital signals and some of those are encrypted in such a way that it makes it very difficult to break out audio and then reduce it from 5. IOW, the signals aren’t compatible with an analogue stereo device.

At least that way the EQ effect will be spread across all the ‘s speaker channels. It will only work for that single source though, not any others. The GR is a well respected EQ in analogue 2 channel circles. But it’s not possible to integrate it in more than a token way with a modern multichannel amp. Having the EQ connected between a stereo source and the receiver is about the most useful option, albeit limited to a single source.

Everything else is just making the lights dance and not actually having any effect on sound. I know this isn’t the answer you hoped to hear, but it is the truth.
